Spell Bee Winners – 2014 goes for their Frehindi Village Trip in May 2015.

June 1, 2015

The Winners of the French Spell Bee – 2014 joined 35 children of a top school in Delhi on a 2 nights and 3 days sejour at Frehindi Village in Uttaranchal.
The trip started with children assembling at Anand Vihar Railway Terminal to catch Shatabdi express for Kathgodam early morning at 6 am.
After having a sumptuous breakfast at Shatabdi the children reached Kathgodam ( The nearest Railhead to the Kumaon region of Uttaranchal ) at 11 am. It took about 2 hours on SUV's to reach our destination up on the mountains with 180 degree view of Himalayas. After we checked in our rooms a steaming hot organic lunch was awaiting us. Post lunch many of us enjoyed the "Inside the resort activities" like rope & ladder climbing or simply TT or carrom and may chose to rest. Late in the evening the teams were divided for the next day "Indo- French Treasure Hunt" which was an instant hit with students with children climbing every high point & naturally exploiting the apple orchard.
The next day started with an early morning breakfast followed by the "Indo-French Treasure Hunt". The whole group was divided in 3 sub-groups for treasure hunt as well as adventure activities. The treasure hunt was followed by visit to the "Chaul Ki Jaali" and "Forest Rest house" where children did river crossing, rock climbing, rappelling and trek to nearby 600 year old Mukteshwar temple. Lunch was done at the picturesque courtyard of an old forest rest house overlooking the valley. In the evening "Hot Pakodas" and "Tea" waited us as the temperature fell to 11 degree celsius and we had to take out our sweaters and warm jackets as we enjoyed the "Bonfire" and danced to the tune of French and Hindi songs adapted to the occasion by Mr. Hemant Bisht with Mr. Haru acting as DJ for the evening.
Next day was even more exciting with students getting into their swim wear as we packed our bags for the trek to "Balugaad" - An small river trek which leads to a water fall which makes a 25 feet deep natural swimming pool. Children had once in a life time experience at this place with lunch served there after an eventful morning. Our onward journey continued for Kathgodam as we reached on time to catch the Shatabadi back to Delhi and we were at the Anand Vihar Railway Station at Delhi at 9 am where eager children started narrating their wonderful experience & stories of Frehindi Village.
